Hello and welcome! You are just a few steps away from joining one of the leading new journalism courses!

First let us tell you a little a bit about the course, and if you like what you hear, signing up is simple. Instructions are below...

SportJournoTeens is a newly-introduced scheme run by volunteers with sports journalism experience to give youngsters between the ages of 16-18 the opportunity to live the life of a journalist and earn valuable experience that you cannot get anywhere else at this age. Students will work mainly from home, but meetings will be held every fortnight and the group will meet up regularly for trips and journeys into the journalism world. At home you will be emailed tasks to complete (articles, interviews, features etc) and they will be expected to be completed and sent back on the set deadline dates. The course is as laid back as possible, but just like in the real journalism world, deadlines must be met and work must be completed to the expected standard.

The course usually runs over 4 to 6 months, but it all depends on how you handle the pressure and work. Last year we had a student complete it in just 3! Students preferably need to live around the London/Surrey/Essex/Kent areas as this is where the meetings are exclusively held, but if you are willing to travel from further away then its up to you. But be sure that you can do it!

What will you receive on completion:

At the end of the course you will receive a B-Tec in Unit 1 Sports Journalism. A long with good grades at GCSE, this is enough to get you into a lot of universities. However, if University isn't your type of thing, then it is also enough to get you started with your journalism career. When employers see that you have been on this course they will know you've already got valuable experience in the field! Out of our 35 students in 2013, 5 continued to study sports journalism at university and 17. with our help, secured themselves a job in the journalism field.

What will you be doing:

We like to think of SportJournoTeens as a freelance course, as you are mainly working from home. Tasks will be emailed to you weekly and you will have to complete them and send them back. The work will then be graded and added to your student portfolio that will receive and overall mark at the end of the year.

However, this is just a small part of the course. The bit we are most interested in is seeing how you handle real life experiences. Trips and interviews will be held regularly with all types of sporting stars and personalities and you will be expected to run a story on these events in a professional way. Starting in January, we have already guaranteed trips to 4 major sporting events including an Chelsea FC football match at Stamford Bridge, where students will be sat pitchside in the press area to write a review on the game. Last year, some of our lucky students were able to interview the likes of David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Andy Murray, Randy Orton, Alex Reid, Amir Khan and Matt Dawson - And that's just a few of them! If we see that you can handle these types of situations like a true professional you will be given a practical pass at the end of the year too

How do I apply:

Application is simple. All you have to do is email us at SportJournoTeens@gmail.com and let us know why you want to do the course, why you are suitable for it, and how you feel it would benefit you.

We will also need your full details, a long with your CV and proof that you are experienced in some type of journalism. Applicants must be aged between 16-18 and able to start the course at this age in January of 2014.
